Fairies are a deeply magical race, drawing power directly from the elements around them. They are most commonly found in the feywild, their homeland, though they can be found in the material plane as well. They are playful creatures, often playing tricks or pranks upon others, but on the rare occasions that they are serious, they ought to be taken as such, or you will pay for it.
